Gators pour in 108 points and topple, SLC, 108-69

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team hosted the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match-up. The Gators rebounded from a loss earlier in the week with 108 points, the second most scored by the team in a game in the program's history. Sage improves to 12-9 overall and 8-4 in the Skyline, while the loss puts SLC at 7-14 overall and 3-9 in the league.

For the second time this season, senior forward Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) tallied 31 points. This time he added a red-hot afternoon converting 11-of-17 field goals with a pair of three pointers and seven free throws. The 31 points ranks third all-time at Sage for the most points in a game by a player, just two shy of tying the record of 33 points set by Kai Deans in 2015. Patterson surpassed the 900 career point mark on Saturday, adding 904 points which is fourth on the all-time scoring list. He has 502 career rebounds, which stand fourth as well. He has now played in 96 games at Sage and ranks third most among the all-time performers. 

Junior guard Frane Larose (Miami, FL/North Miami Beach Senior) added 11 points with four rebounds, four steals and three assists, while senior Rob Mills (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) added 10 points. Mills also had four assists to go with his three pointers. Rookie Anthony Mitchell (Bronx, NY/Salesian) added 10 points off the bench surpassing his previous career high of five points.  Senior Alex Lilac (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) added nine points with two assists and two steals for the Gators.

Junior forward Stephen Paulk (West Palm Beach, FL/Palm Beach Lakes) netted eight points, while senior Elva Shelton (St. Louis, MO/Soldan IS) added seven boards as the Gators out rebounded the Gryphons, 51-35.

Sage is back in action on February 8 travelling to face Mt. St. Mary College in a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference contest.
