Gators fall despite a double-double by Patterson with 23 points and 10 boards

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team hosted Yeshiva University on Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference match-up. The Maccabees earned the 75-68 win over Sage to improve to 11-6 overall and 7-2 in the Skyline, while the setback puts the gators at 11-9 overall and 7-4 in the league.

Yeshiva lead 35-32 at the half sophomore guard Judah Cohen (Englewood, NJ/Frisch) had eight points in the first stanza as the Maccabees also made five three-point baskets in the half.  Cohen finished with 16 points with three assists, while rookie guard Simcha halpert (Los Angeles, CA/Shalvevet) added 21 points and seven rebounds with 16 in the second half. By game's end, Yeshiva had three players finish in double-digits as senior Michael Berg (New York, NY/Ramaz) added 12 points with eight assists and nine rebounds, while also picking off five steals. All told, Yeshiva shot 44.0% from three-point range converting 11-25 from beyond the arch while hitting six second half three's.

Senior forward Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) tallied his fifth double-double of the year with his 23 points and 10 rebounds, all defensive boards. Patterson moved into the No. 4 spot in career scoring (873 points) moving ahead of Jeff Stopera (860 points, 2009-2014). He also ranks among the program's leading rebounders with 496 boards, good enough for No. 4. He also has played in an impressive 95 games at Sage and ranks third most among the all-time performers.  

Sage's junior center Thiago Conceicao (El Portal, FL/Westwood Christian) finished with seven points and eight rebounds with a pair of blocked shots.    

Sage is back in action on February 4 hosting Sarah Lawrence College in a 2 p.m. Skyline Conference contest.  Yeshiva University is back in action February 2 Mt. St. Mary at home at 8 p.m.
