Sage men fall short on the road at FSC, 78-69

Farmingdale, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team travelled to Farmingdale State College for a Skyline Conference match-up with the Rams. Sage held a 33-29 lead at the half, but fell to FSC, 78-69 to snap the Gators' three-game win streak. Sage drops to 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the league, while FSC improves to 9-5 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

For Sage a number of top single-game performances were recorded in the contest as senior forward Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) poured in 25 points, while junior center Thiago Conceicao (El Portal, FL/Westwood Christian) added 17 rebounds to go with his 10 points and seven blocked shots, just missing the program's first triple double.

Conceiaco's 17 rebounds is tied for the No. 4 all-time single-game performance with Ryan Sager (17 vs. St. Joseph's-LI, 12/4/12) and ranks behind Melvin Ford's 22 rebound performance against SUNY-Old Westbury on Jan. 3, 2015. The junior Gator also tied the single-game block mark first set by All-American Kai Deans (2/26/15) against SUNY-Old Westbury with seven rejections. Patterson now has 789 career points and is sixth in scoring, while his 463 rebounds is also sixth best at Sage.

Junior guard Jordan Devaughn (Jacksonville, FL/Flora McDonald Academy) connected for 19 points with five rebounds, three assists and three steals along the way.

On the week, Patterson erupted for 56 points with 16 rebounds and shot a blistering red-hot 55.3% from the floor, while Conceicao added 27 rebounds with nine blocked shots and 20 points.

Sage is back in action on January 16 hosting the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a Skyline Conference contest at Kahl Gym at 8 p.m.
