Patterson explodes for career-high 31 points as Gators top Maritime, 104-80

Albany, NY--The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team hosted the Mariners of Maritime College on Wednesday night in a Skyline Conference game at Kahl Gym. Sage's senior forward Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) poured in a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds to help lift the Gators past Maritime, 104-80. Sage improves to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in the Skyline. The Gators are also riding a three-game win streak, while the Maritime drops to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the league as their two-game win streak was snapped.

For the Gators, Patterson poured in 22 of his points in the first half as Sage led 45-33 at the break. He shot a blistering 9-14 from the floor in the first half as the Gators shot 51.4% from the floor (18-35) in the first half of action. By game's end, he had a career-best 31 points surpassing his previous high of 26 points. Patterson now has 764 career points and is sixth in scoring, while his 457 rebounds and that stands sixth best. He finished the night hitting 13 of 22 field goals attempted.

Four other Gators finished in double-digit scoring as senior guard Rob Mills (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy), senior forward Davon Sylvester (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Hayes), and junior guard Jordan Devaughn (Jacksonville, FL/Flora McDonald Academy) all finished with 11 points. Junior center Thiago Conceicao (El Portal, FL/Westwood Christian) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Gators as they combined for 56.9% shooting from the floor (41-72).

Maritime's senior guard Tim Hoch (Coventry, RI/Fishers Island) added 17 points, while junior center Patrick McDonald (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) finished with 16 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard John Liccese (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spelman) finished with 12 points for the Privateers.

Sage is back in action on January 14 travelling to Farmingdale State College for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference game with the Rams. Maritime is also back in action on January 14 hosting SUNY-Old Westbury in a 1 p.m. home Skyline Conference contest.
