Maccabees spoil Sage's Senior Day

Albany, NYThe Sage Colleges' men's basketball team hosted the Maccabees of Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon in Kahl Gym in conjunction with Senior Day. Yeshiva posted the 80-70 win over the Gators to improve to 13-9 overall and 11-6 in the Skyline, while Sage drops to 16-8 overall and 14-5 in the league.

Yeshiva led 42-33 at the half and after shooting 60.0% (3-5) from three-point range in the first half on a 4-4 performance emerged from the locker room on fire making 4-4 in the second half to finish the day with a 77.8% performance from three-point range, 7-9.

Senior guard Shaje Weiss (Edison, NJ) had a game-high 23 points with eight rebounds and made 9-of-11 from the free throw line to lead the Maccabees. Rookie guard Judah Cohen (Englewood, NJ) poured in 18 points off the bench after making all five shots from beyond the arch. Senior forward Shelby Rosenberg (Woodmere, NY) added 15 points after making 6-of-9 field goals in the action.

Senior guard Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) led the way for the Gators with his 18 points, while senior Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) connected for 16 points with nine rebounds, and four assists. Senior forward Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) added a double-double with his 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ford now has 976 career points and is third all-time in scoring, while ranking No. 1 all-time with his 733 boards and No. 3 with his 61 career blocked shots.  Senior Travis Gill (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) added nine points with seven rebounds.

Sage is back in action on Saturday, February 20 travelling to SUNY-Old Westbury for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference contest to wrap the 2015-2016 regular-season.
