Ford's double-double helps Sage to 6th straight win as they down the Dolphins, 85-58

Riverdale, NYThe Sage Colleges' men's basketball team travelled to face the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Thursday. Sage cruised to an 85-58 win for the team's sixth straight victory as the Gators improves to 16-7 overall and 14-4 in the league. The Dolphins drop to 8-14 overall and 7-10 in the league.

Sage used a 45-27 halftime lead to roll past the Dolphins as senior forward Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) poured in 17 points and hauled in 11 rebounds for a double-double. Ford now has 960 career points and is third all-time in scoring, while ranking No. 1 all-time with his 721 boards and No. 5 with his 61 career blocked shots. Ford was red-hot making 7-of-11 shots from the floor to help the Gators.

Senior Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) tallied 15 points with four steals, while senior Travis Gill (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) added 14 points. Senior Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) added nine points with eight rebounds and eight assists. Junior Brett Ullman (Sharon Springs, NY/Sharon Springs Central) also added five points with seven rebounds and scored his program-leading 100th career three-point basket in the contest.

Sage used 10 players in the contest and every Gator scored in the action as they helped to deliver Sage's head coach Brian Barnes his 97th career win.

Sage is back in action on Sunday, February 14 hosting Yeshiva University in the team's regular-season home finale at Kahl Gym at 3 p.m. Sage will honor the program's five seniors in conjunction with Senior Day and will also hold their annual Super Hero Day with prizes for fans dressed in super hero costumes.
