Sage Men's Basketball dominates SLC, 82-52

Albany, NYThe Sage Colleges' men's basketball team hosted the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College on Friday night in Kahl Gym in a Skyline Conference contest. The Gators posted the 82-52 win to improve to 11-7 overall and 9-4 in the Skyline, while SLC falls to 3-15 overall and 1-13 in the Skyline. Sage held a 41-25 lead at the half and led by as many as 34 points in the second half as they triumphed on Friday night.

Sage's offense was paced the entire team as all 11 players scored in the contest. Leading the way for Sage was junior forward Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael) with a game-high 16 points. He added eight rebounds and made 5-of-9 shots from the floor. Senior guard Travis Gill (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) connected for 13 points followed by senior Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) and junior Rob Mills (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) with 12 points each.  Senior Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) tallied 10 points with four assists, while junior forward Elva Shelton (St. Louis, MO/Soldan IS) added seven points with a team-best nine rebounds off the bench.

SLC's junior forward Ege Ozcan (Istanbul, Turkey) finished with 15 points and made 6-of-8 from the floor. Rookie Gabe Eng (Brooklyn, NY/The Beacon School) had nine points with five caroms, while newcomer Parker Hagmeaier (Oakland, CA/Bishop O'Dowd) connected for a game-best 11 rebounds. He had nine defensive boards and added three assists for the Gryphons.

Junior center Stevan Radosavljevic (Lazarevac, Serbia) connected for eight points with six rebounds and a block to go with his two steals in the contest for SLC.

Sage's senior forward Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) added four points with six rebounds and four blocked shots for the Gators. He now has 900 career points, which is No. 3 all-time in career scoring at Sage, while adding to his program leading 677 rebounds. He is currently No. 5 in career blocks with 57.

Next up for the Gators is a road league match-up at Purchase College on January 26 at 6 p.m. while the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College will host Copper Union in a 7:30 p.m. non-league match-up on January 27.
