Gator men fall at SJC, 76-64 in Skyline action

Patchogue, NYThe Sage Colleges' men's basketball team travelled to St. Joseph's College (LI) for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday afternoon. After holding a 32-31 lead at the half Sage fell to the Golden Eagles, 76-64 on the road. Sage drops to 9-5 overall and 7-2 in the league, while SJC improves to 5-8 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

The game was tied three times in the opening action of the second half with the last tie coming at 13:30 (42-42) before SJC took the lead for good on a made pair of free throws by Dominique Spann at 13:02.

Spann would finish with 22 points after shooting 7-11 from the floor and five rebounds with three assists. Joining him in double-digit scoring was Andy Laurent with 20 points, while handing out six assists. Isaiah Moore had a double-double on 16 points with 12 rebounds and two blocked shots for the Golden Eagles.

Leading the way for the Gators was junior Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) as he finished with a double-double of 15 points with 11 rebounds. Senior guards Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) and Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) added 14 and 11 points, respectively, while senior guard Travis Gill (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) finished with 12 points before fouling out.

Senior forward Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) was held to just four points and eight rebounds before fouling out of the contest. Ford, who now has 865 career points is the Gators' third all-time leading scorer, while holding the program's all-time leading rebounder (637).

The Gators are back in action at home on Tuesday, January 12 hosting Mt. St. Mary College in an 8 p.m. Skyline Conference contest.
