Ullman's explosive first half helps propel Gators past CMSV to remain unblemished in league action

Albany, NYThe Sage Colleges' men's basketball team hosted the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a Skyline Conference match-up that saw both squads enter the contest unbeaten in league play.  Sage came away with an 89-82 win on Tuesday night, improving to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the Skyline. The loss puts CMSV at 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

After trailing 8-0 in the first half, the Gators came to life sparked by the play of junior guard Brett Ullman (Sharon Springs, NY/Sharon Springs Central) as he buried the first of six consecutive three-pointers and was 6-6 from three-point range in the first half alone and had 20 first-half points off the bench, just one shy of his personal-best. Sage took a 39-35 lead into the locker room after making 7-12 from three-point range in the half on 58.3%.

By game's end, Ullman finished with a career-best 22 points and after six straight successful three-point attempts missed his seventh shot from downtown and went 6-7 from three-point range in the action with a 4-4 effort from the line. Ullman is making a run at breaking the program's career three-point basket mark as he stands second with 85, just 11 shy of the mark set by Pat Lanoue (96, 2010-2012).

Sage's senior forward Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) had a double-double on 23 points with 13 rebounds and a blocked shot. Ford hit 8-of-16 shots from the floor and now has a program-best 575 rebounds, while standing No. 5 in career scoring with 789 points.

Gator senior guard Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) also finished with a career-best 19 points for Sage as they combined to shoot 52.6% from three-point range (10-19).

CMSV's sophomore forward Ammad Alkhulaidi (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth Regional) netted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds with three assists and three steals. Joining him with a double-digit scoring effort was sophomore guard Mike Mulligan (Pearl River, NY/Nanuet) as he had 13 points with five rebounds.  Three players finished with 11 points as sophomore guard Jamir Ferebee (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's), rookie guard Trevor Johnson (Marlboro, MD/Frederick Douglass), and sophomore guard Madison Martinez (Atlanta, GA/Grady) connected for double digits in the contest.
