Sage men dominate Sarah Lawrence, 72-35 to seal Skyline regular-season crown

Bronxville, NY –The Sage College's men's basketball team travelled to Sarah Lawrence College on Thursday night for the final game of the 2014-2015 season. The Gators triumphed 72-35 over Sarah Lawrence College in Skyline Conference play. With the win, the Gators secured the program's first regular-season championship title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Skyline Tournament. Sage, which is ranked No. 6 in the Atlantic Regional rankings, improves to 21-4 overall and 15-3 in the league. SLC drops to 1-23 overall and 0-18 in the league.

Sage led 31-23 at the half as senior forward Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Pace) paced the team with six points. The team's top scorer this year, he now has 422 points on the season and continues to add to his active single-season scoring mark.

Senior center Jacob Sopchak (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinebeck) finished with a team-best 11 points in the contest as he shot 4-5 from the floor and added three blocked shots as well. Sopchak now has 110 career blocks as the Gators' all-time leading shot blocker. Junior Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) added eight points with six rebounds, while junior Travis Gill (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) added 10 points for the Gators.

Sage will be back in action on Thursday, February 26 at 7 p.m. hosting the semifinals of the 2015 Skyline Conference.
