Gators triumph on Senior Day, 64-47 over Yeshiva

Albany, NY –The Sage College's men's basketball team hosted Yeshiva University on Sunday in a Skyline Conference contest with the Maccabees. Sage posted the 64-47 victory en route to the program's seventh straight win.  Sage is now 19-4 overall with a league leading 13-3 Skyline Conference record. Yeshiva drops to 11-10 overall and 8-7 in the league.

Sage led 26-20 at the break after shooting a blistering 10-11 from the free throw line as the Gators made their first 10 free throws in the contest.

Prior to the contest, Sage recognized their three seniors in conjunction with Senior Day, tri-captains Troy Nwanna (Washington, DC/Mercersburg Academy), Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Pace), Jacob Sophcak (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinebeck).

For the game, junior Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) had a team-best 13 points and was 3-5 from three-point range. Junior guard Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) added 11 points and was 3-6 from three-point ranges. Deans added six points but was the high rebounder with his 12 boards, including nine defensive rebounds. Nwanna added eight points with five rebounds, while Sopchak the program's all-time block leader added four points and five rebounds.

Yeshiva's senior guard Benjy Ritholtz (West Hempstead, NY/HANC) added 16 points with seven rebounds, while junior guard Yisrael Feld (Teaneck, NJ/Yeshiva HS for Boys) finished with 15 points off the bench.  Junior forward Shelby Rosenberg (Woodmere, NY/HAFTR) added seven points with seven rebounds for the Maccabees.

Sage returns to action on Tuesday, February 17 travelling to Mt. St. Mary College for a 7 p.m. Skyline conference contest. Yeshiva is back in action on February 17 hosting Sarah Lawrence College in a league contest at 8 p.m.
