Nwanna's career performance spurs Gator to top of Skyline standings after ripping Purchase, 101-75

Purchase, NY –The Sage College's men's basketball team travelled to Purchase College for a Skyline Conference contest with the Panthers. The two-time defending league champions, Purchase had a 49-48 lead at the break but Sage dismantled the Panthers in the second half and cruised to a 101-75 win as senior tri-captain Troy Nwanna (Washington, DC/Mercersburg Academy) poured in a career-best 22 points. Sage is now 18-4 overall with a league leading 12-3 Skyline Conference record. Purchase drops 7-14 overall and 7-7 in the league.

Nwanna had a red hot shooting night and was perfect from the floor making 6 of 6 shots until the last 1:13 when he missed his first jumper to cap the night with a 6-7 shooting performance and a personal-best 22 points, better than a 20 point effort in Sage's win over MCLA last month. Nwanna moved into the No. 8 spot on Sage's career scoring list with his 461 points and after adding five rebounds in the contest on Wednesday, he now has 252 rebounds (No. 7).

Senior forward Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Pace) added 20 points with 10 rebounds to lead the Gators to the key win as he had 11 first-half points in the action and shot 7-10 from the floor. Deans, the team's leading scorer now has 383 points on the year with a team-best 189 rebounds. He owns an 18.2 ppg and 9.0 rpg average for the year, while elevating his career resume to include 741 points and 382 rebounds. He is No. 4 on the all-time scoring list and No. 5 in career rebounds in just two seasons at Sage.

Sage's junior Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) added 19 points, nine assists and seven rebounds and by game's end, Sage combined for a 57.1% field goal percentage. The Gators made 31-of-54 field goals for the night after shooting 62.1% from the floor in the first half.

Sage returns to action on Sunday, February 15 hosting Yeshiva University in a 3 p.m. Skyline Conference game. Prior to the contest, Sage will honor their 2015 seniors, Troy Nwanna, Kai Deans, and Jacob Sopchak in conjunction with Senior Day.
