Sage men's team breaks single-game three-pointer mark as Robinson ties mark as well

Albany, NY –The Sage College's men's basketball team hosted the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College in a Skyline Conference  on Saturday afternoon in Kahl Gym. The game had an unusual twist as the St. Joseph's men's team forgot their uniforms for the contest and luckily SJC's women's team was able to lend them their uniforms after having just played Sage's women's team.

Sage's men's team collected the 87-63 win, the fifth straight for the Gators as they improve to 17-4 overall and 11-3 in the league. SJC drops to 13-8 overall and 10-4 in the league. Sage led 46-38 at the break and despite some impressive three-point shooting from SJC, never trailed or saw the game tied. By game's end, Sage basketball team broke the single-game team three-point mark as they tallied 14 from downtown, bettering the previous record of 12 against St. Joseph's from the 2012-2013 season.

Sage's junior Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) tied the Sage single-game three-point record set earlier with past week as he too hit seven three-pointers in the game and led all players with his 25 points. He tied the record set by Brett Ullman who hit seven in the Gators' win over Sarah Lawrence. Robinson shot 8-15 from the floor and 7-11 from three-point range, while adding 11 rebounds.

Junior Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) added 15 points, while senior Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Pace) added 12 points and three blocked shots, while sophomore Brett Ullman (Sharon Springs, NY/Sharon Springs Central) added 12 points off the bench and was 4-7 from three-point range.  Junior forward Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) added 11 rebounds with six points.

SJC's senior Sean McCarthy (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) added 25 points with 11 rebounds. He finished with four three-pointers and four assists, while sophomore guard Andy Laurent (Amityville, NY/Amityville) added 12 points with eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Fernando Vazquez (Babylon, NY/Babylon) added 11 points for the Golden Eagles.

Sage returns to action on Wednesday, February 11 visiting Purchase College for an 8 p.m. Skyline Conference game, while St. Joseph's College (LI) will host Maritime in a 5:30 p.m. Skyline Conference match-up.
