Win streak halted at 6 as Gators fall at FSC

Farmingdale, NY –The Sage College's men's basketball team travelled to Farmingdale State on Sunday for a rescheduled Skyline Conference match-up. The host Rams posted a 61-57 win over the Gators, to snap Sage's six-game win streak. FSC is now proves to 4-12 overall and 2-7 in the Skyline Conference. The Gators drop to 12-4 overall and 6-3 in the league.

FSC led 29-25 at the break and pulled away to a 13-point lead (43-30, 14:27), before the Gators clawed their way back to pull within two points. Down 57-55 with 1:25 left as senior forward Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Donovan) hit a pair of free throws.

FSC's Trey Kinard hit a layup and made a pair of free throws to give the Rams a six-point lead with less than 20 seconds left to play. With 0:01 left, senior Troy Nwanna (Washington, DC/Mercerburg Academy) connected for a pair of free throws but it was not enough as time expired to halt the Gators' comeback.

Junior Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) added 13 points. Junior forward Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) held the lead on the boards with 16 rebounds with seven points.  Ford now has 409 career rebounds and has moved into the No. 4 spot on the all-time list at Sage.

Senior center Jacob Sopchak (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinbeck) racked up his 100th career blocked shots and continues to add to his active career record.
