Sage's Kai Deans sweeps weekly awards

Albany, NY---Sage's senior forward Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Pace) earned acclaim from the Skyline Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference as the men's basketball player of the week.

Deans was named the Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Week, while also earned the same honor as the Corvais ECAC Metro Division III Player of the Week.

Deans earned his third Skyline Player of the Week citation for his efforts in the Gators' 3-0 week. He opened the week with a 32-point effort as Sage knocked off SUNY-Old Westbury to tie a single-game scoring record. He backed up that with 19 points twice as Sage beat SUNY-Canton and St. Joseph's (LI). He averaged 23.3 ppg and 10.3 rpg with a 1.67 blocks per game last week and nowhas an 18.5 ppg  average to go with his 8.8 rpg in 13 starts.

The honor from the ECAC was the second on the year for the Gator tri-captain who continues to lead the Gators this season.

Sage is now 11-3 overall and stands at 5-2 in the Skyline Conference and will be back in action on January 22 hosting Purchase College in a 7:30 p.m. conference game in Kahl Gym.
