Deans leads Gators past Maritime, 75-58 as Sage earns key league win

Throggs Neck, NY –The Sage College's men's basketball team travelled to Maritime College for a Skyline Conference contest on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 75-58 victory. The win puts the Gators at 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the league. The Privateers drop to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the league.

The Gators led 34-18 at the break and cruised to the conference win as senior tri-captain Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Pace) collected 16 points with eight rebounds. Deans leads the team in scoring this season with his 172 points. On his career, Deans now has 536 career points at Sage and is currently the program's No. 5 all-time leading scorer.

Junior Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) added 14 points, while junior Travis Gill (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) each scored 13 points. Junior guard Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Gators. Gill poured in three shots from beyond the arch, while McCray added a pair as Sage combined to shoot 44.4% from three-point range in the contest (8-18).

Sophomore Brett Ullman (Sharon Springs, NY/Sharon Springs Central) added two three-point shots including one at 14:59 in the second helping the team to their largest lead, up 24  points (50-26). Ullman leads the team with his 22 three-point baskets this year and added nine points in the action on Saturday.

Sage returns to action on January 12 hosting SUNY-Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference doubleheader in Kahl Gym at 8 p.m.
