Deans pours in 23 as Sage beats Cobleskill, 66-64

Cobleskill, NY –The Sage College's men's basketball team travelled to SUNY-Cobleskill for a non-conference match-up with the Fighting Tigers. Sage trailed 33-30 at the break, but came away with the 66-64 win as senior tri-captain Kai Deans (Miami, FL/Monsignor Pace) poured in a season-best 23 points to lead the team. With the win, Sage is now 4-1 on the year, while Cobleskill drops to 1-4.

Junior Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) added 13 points for the Gators, while sophomore guard Brett Ullman (Sharon Springs, NY/Sharon Springs Central) added 11 points off the bench and was 3-4 from three-point range. Sophomore Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) connected for the game-winning shot as he hit a layup with 1:13 left and gave Sage a 66-62 lead as the Fighting Tigers were unable to get any closer in the final minute of play.

Junior Travis Gill (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) added 9 points, while senior center Jacob Sopchak (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinebeck) had a team-best 3 blocked shots. He has racked up 75 career blocks and is closing in the all-time block record of 76 set by Ryan Sager (2010-2013).

Sage returns to action on December 2 travelling to Yeshiva University for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference contest, the first of the year for the Gators.
