Gators fall in opener to Nazareth College

Rochester, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team opened the new season on Friday night competing at the Nazareth College Tip Off Tournament. Sage fell 83-64 to Nazareth and drops to 0-1.

Sage's senior forward Mason Horne (Albany, NY/LaSalle Institute) led the Gators with 21 points as he shot 6-18 from the floor and hit 7-of-11 free throws. He now has 996 career points and is poised to become the second Sage men's basketball player with 1,000 career points when the Gators are back in action Saturday afternoon.

Junior center Jacob Sopchak (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinebeck) added a career-high 13 points and a career-high seven rebounds. Junior guard Ryan LaBelle (East Berne, NY/Berne-Knox-Westerlo) added nine points in the action as a starter with six rebounds. Sage graduate student, Jeff Stopera (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) finished with seven points and five assists with three steals.
