
Farmingdale, NY-- The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team travelled to Farmingdale State College for a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday night. The host Rams posted the 74-55 win to improve to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the Skyline Conference, while the loss snaps Sage's two-game win streak and puts the Gators at 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the league.
Sage's senior forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) connected for 16 points on Wednesday night, becoming the first Gator men's basketball player to score 1,000 career points in the program's young four-year history. Three others, have done this at Sage, but as members of the men's basketball program at Sage Junior College of Albany, a Division II Junior College Member. Farbotko now has 1,000 career points after Wednesday's efforts.
For the game, Sage's Mason Horne (Albany, NY/La Salle Institute) had a team-best 17 points to lead the Gators in scoring in the contest.
The Rams held a 32-24 lead at the break and were paced by the play of the league's top scorer, AJ Matthews, who tallied 33 points with a game-high 20 rebounds. Ryan Davis added 18 points with nine assists for FSC.
Sage returns to action on January 12 when they host Purchase College in a 2 p.m. Skyline Conference contest in the Kahl Gym.
