Gators almost upset SVC, 73-63

Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges men's basketball program hosted the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College on Tuesday night in the Kahl Campus Center. SVC would triumph in the final minutes of play 73-63 despite a valiant late-game run by Sage. Southern Vermont College improves to 2-0, while Sage drops 0-2.

SVC took a 40-26 halftime lead as junior guard Lance Spratling (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) would lead the contest with 19 points and 11 rebounds. By game's end, he recorded his second straight double-double as he poured in 30 points and 16 rebounds. Senior forward Lance Spratling (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) finished with 30 points and 16 rebounds, after hauling down 12 defensive boards.

Sage pulled within four points down the stretch as they got as close as 65-61 with 2:40 left to play, but were not able to got the gap and fell in the final moments of play.

Sage got a double-double from freshman forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) as he connected for 16 points and 10 rebounds with a block. Junior guard Garrett Bishop (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga Springs) added 10 points for the Gators, while freshman forward Mason Horne (Albany, NY/LaSalle Institute) also added 10 points on the night.

Sage returns to action on November 20 hosting Albany College of Pharmacy in the Kahl Center at 7 p.m.  Southern Vermont College travels to Williams College for their tip-off tournament on November 20 and 21. The Mountaineers will face the host Ephs on Friday at 8:00 p.m.
