Farmingdale men top Sage in Skyline action, 68-60
The Gators fell on Saturday to Farmingdale despite offensive support from Harris and Farbotko
Troy, NY---The Sage Colleges men's basketball team hosted Farmingdale State College on Saturday in a Skyline Conference contest in the Kahl Campus Center. Farmingdale escaped with a 68-60 win to improve to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while Sage drops to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the league.
Farmingdale took a 32-27 lead at the break despite not hitting a single free throw (0-5) and shooting just 35.1% from the floor (13-37). Junior forward Nikita Davis (Brooklyn, NY/Telecommunications) paced the Ram in the first half with his nine points and eight rebounds. He finished the game with a game-high 17 points and 15 rebounds for the double-double.
Joining Davis in double-digit scoring was freshman Wade Cress (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) and junior Shahee Martin (Lakeview, NY/West Hempstead) as they both scored 10 points. Senior guard Terrence Howard (Queens, NY/Cardozo) finished with 10 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a pair of steals on the day.
Sage led three times during the second half, but each time the Rams would rally back and regain the lead. The last Sage lead came at 9:54 with Sage leading 48-47.
Sage's freshman forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) finished with 16 points and eight rebounds with a pair of blocks, steals and assists. Sage's junior guard Ryan Harris (Hudson Falls, NY/Glens Falls) also finished in double digits with his 14 points.
Sage returns to action on Wednesday, December 9 hosting Mount Saint Mary College in a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference game in the Kahl Center. The Sage Colleges Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) will be sponsoring a food drive in conjunction with the upcoming basketball game. Admission to all Sage contests is Free! Sage's SAAC is asking fans to bring a non-perishable food item to the games that will in turn be donated to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. All fans that donate to the food drive, will be eligible for a Gator Fan Pack to be raffled at each contest.
Amongst the items in the "fanpack" are items donated by Sage's bookstores, The Bookstore in Albany.
Farmingdale State College will host Yeshiva University that same night in an 8 p.m. league contest.
