Gators fall on the road to Blue Knights, 74-67
Sage had four players finish in double digits on Wednesday, but it was not enough as the Gators fell to MSMC.
Newburgh, NY---Mount Saint Mary College hosted the Gators of The Sage Colleges in men's basketball on Wednesday night and racked up a 74-67 win to improve to 8-12 overall and 7-8 in the Skyline Conference, while Sage falls to 5-14 overall and 4-11 in the league.
The Blue Knights triumphed behind sophomore forward Carlos Valdez (Slate Hill, NY/Minisink Valley) double-double as he 20 points and 16 rebounds. Junior guard Matt Weinberger (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) led the contest with a game-high 22 points as shot 7-9 from the floor.
Sage's rookie Mason Horne (Albany, NY/La Salle Institute) finished with 15 points as he made 6 of his 9 field goals and had four assists on the night. Freshman Marcus Hunter (Ridge, NY/Longwood) connected for 14 points with a team-leading seven rebounds and two blocks.
Freshman forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) added 12 points, while rookie guard Jeff Stopera (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) added a career-high 10 points for the Gators with four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Sage returns to action on February 7 for a Skyline Conference game at Yeshiva University at 2 p.m.
