Medaille slips past RSC field hockey squad,1-0

Buffalo, NY. – Medaille University posted the 1-0 home win over Russell Sage College's field hockey team in Empire 8 play on Saturday afternoon. Medaille had the lone goal of the match late in the third quarter to collect the E8 victory and moves to 2-5 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8. RSC falls to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Cassie Deppner scored the lone goal at 41:03 to lift the Mavericks past the Gators.

Rookie keeper Jaia Caron (Bellows Falls, VT/Bellows Falls Union) made her first career start and turned away 6 shots in the action, while Kristyn Clare made 15 saves as the Gators out-shot Medaille 23-15 on the day.

Senior forward Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) had 10 shots on goal against the Mavericks while graduate player Sara O'Connor (Rexford, NY/Niskayuna) made seven shots as well in the game.

The Gators return to action on September 28 travelling to Union College for a 6 p.m. non-conference match.
