Two Gators honored by Empire 8

Hilton, NY — Russell Sage College's field hockey team member senior defender RSC's senior defender Ashlee Billert (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) was named to the 2021 Empire 8 Field Hockey All-Conference Second Team on defense. Junior midfielder Kyndra Riche (Salem, NY/Salem Washington Academy) was named to the Field Hockey Sportswoman Team as well.

Ashlee Billert also wraps her stellar career having made 17 defensive saves to hold the career record as well while playing in a record 50 games. She ranks second with her 44 career starts. Over the course of the 2021 season, she was also honored as the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week after she scored the eventual game-winner with 3:27 remaining as the Gators defeated visiting Keuka 3-2 on October 23. She totaled four defensive saves in the E8 win.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 E8 Field Hockey Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen. Kyndra Riche was named to the team this fall. She started all 17 games as a junior and added six points on three goals. She also registered three defensive saves on the year.

For the year, the Gators went 4-13 overall with a 2-6 mark in the conference and had a three-game win streak late in the season as well.
