Field hockey team wraps season at Houghton

Houghton, NY — Russell Sage College's field hockey team travelled to Houghton College on Saturday for an Empire 8 match. The host Highlanders posted a 7-0 win to move to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in the Empire 8. The loss snaps the Gators' three-game win streak and puts them at 4-13 overall and 2-6 in the league.

Houghton led 3-0 at the half and was paced by the play of Bekah Davie who netted a hat trick in the action.

RSC's senior goalie Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made 15 saves in the contest and wraps the year with a record of 4-13. She wraps her Gator career having established most of the young program's standards for goalies.  Greier holds the mark for most career wins (14), most career starts by a goalie (47), most games played by a goalie (48), while also making 449 saves in her time in net with a saves percentage of .723. She played in net for 3,001 minutes and finishes with a 3.43 career goals against average which is third best.

RSC's senior defender Ashlee Billert (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) also wraps her stellar career having made 17 defensive saves to hold the career record as well while playing in a record 50 games. She ranks second with her 44 career starts.

Senior midfielder Makenna Barton (Oriskany, NY/Rome Free Academy) played in 16 games over the course of her career while newcomers to the team this fall, graduate students Allie Abels (West Hartford, CT/Conard), Katelyn Tavarres (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Nicole Lindquist (Pine Plain, NY/Stissing Mountain) all made an impact as well.
