Gators Win Third-Straight

AURORA, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College ran its winning streak to three with tonight's 4-1 non-conference victory at Wells.

Shortly before halftime, midfielder Allie Abels (West Hartford, CT/Conard), a graduate student, (above) scored to break a 1-1 deadlock.

Junior midfielder/defender Kyndra Riche (Salem, NY/Salem Washington Academy) and junior forward/midfielder Julia Petreikis (Deansboro, NY/Clinton) added to the RSC lead with second half goals.

Senior goalkeeper Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central), the program's career leader in multiple goalkeeping categories, made five saves to earn the victory, while freshman midfielder/forward Jada LaPierre (Franklin, NH/Franklin) recorded the opening goal for the Gators (4-12).

Sophomore midfielder Lauren Spiegel tallied the lone Wells goal, while freshman Samya Anderson-Victor stopped 16 Gator shots.

Looking ahead, Sage concludes its season on Saturday at Houghton. The Empire 8 Conference game is set to begin at 3:30 pm. Tonight was the season finale for Wells (1-12).  


Notes: Senior defender Ashlee Billert (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) was named the E8 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday...She scored the game-winning goal and made four defensive saves in Saturday's E8 win vs. Keuka.
