Field Hockey delivers Key E8 win on Senior Day beating Keuka, 3-2

Colonie, NY — Russell Sage College's field hockey team hosted Keuka College on Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 contest. The match saw the Gators post their second consecutive Empire 8 victory as RSC beat Keuka, 3-2. With the win, RSC is now 3-12 overall and 2-5 in the Empire 8. Keuka drops to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in the league.

RCS's rookie Jada LaPierre (Franklin, NH/Franklin) scored her first collegiate goal to put the Gators on the scoreboard first on a pass from junior Alysa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) at 1:55. RSC held the lead through the start of the second period before Keuka's sophomore forward McKenzie Hoyt (Afton, NY/Afton) scored for the Wolves at 19:09.

Tied at the half, 1-1, Keuka took a 2-1 lead as Hoyt scored her second goal of the afternoon at 37:41 marking her seventh goal of the season.

RSC tied the action as Fitzgerald scored at 53:24 for her team-leading fourth goal of the year. Just three minutes later off of a penalty corner, RSC's senior defender Ashlee Billert (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) scored the game-winner on a pass from rookie Shauna Lanoue (Troy, NY/Columbia) for the win with her score at 56:33.

RSC's senior goalie Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made 16 saves in the contest and improves to 3-12. She continues add to her active career saves mark with 428 saves.  Keuka's senior Megan Makowski (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) took the loss with one save as she drops to 4-9.
