Field hockey earns E8 win in OT over Elmira

Colonie, NY — Russell Sage College's field hockey team hosted Elmira College on Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 contest. The match was decided in overtime as the Gators got the game-winning goal from junior Alysa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) in the first overtime stanza.  RSC improves to 2-12 overall and 1-1-5 in the Empire 8. Elmira drops to 0-10 overall and 0-5 in the league.

The two teams played 60 minutes of scoreless action before they started the 10 minute overtime period. Fitzgerald tallied the game-winner just 29 seconds into overtime for her third goal of the year.

RSC's senior goalie Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made four saves in the contest and improves to 2-12. She continues add to her active career saves mark with 412 saves.  Elmira's sophomore keeper MeganRae Burke (Medford Lakes, NJ/Saint Joseph) made 12 saves in the match.

RSC is back in action on October 23 hosting Keuka College at noon at Afrims Sports Complex in an Empire 8 contest. The Gators will honor their seniors in conjunction with Senior Day prior to the start of the match.
