Fitzgerald scores as field hockey falls to Hartwick

Colonie, NY — Russell Sage College's field hockey team hosted the Hawks of Hartwick College on Sunday in an Empire 8 match-up. The Hawks won their fifth straight as they posted a 7-1 win, improving to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the league. RSC falls to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Hartwick led 5-0 at the half as sophomore forward Holly Calore (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) scored a pair of goals in the first half. She leads the Hawks with five goals on the season. Six different players scored in the contest, while rookie Makenzie Kensel (San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch) finished with a goal and an assist.

RSC's junior Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) scored for the Gators and now has two goals this fall.

RSC's senior goalie Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made 11 saves in the action and drops to 1-9 in goal. She adds to her active career saves mark with 378 saves. Hartwick's junior keeper Madison Maddocks (Garrison, NY/Walter Panas) earned the win and is now 6-2 after working the first half with no saves. Sophomore Ashley Luppens (Wading River, NY/Shoreham Wading River) worked the second half with one goal allowed and one save.

RSC is back in action on October 6 travelling to Manhattanville College for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference contest.
