Gators tripped up by Castleton

Castleton, VT — Russell Sage College field hockey team made a visit to Castleton University on Wednesday night. The Spartans recorded a 14-2 win to improve to 3-5 on the year. The Gators drops to 1-5 on the season.

Junior Kyndra Riche (Salem, NY/Salem Washington Academy) broke up the shutout bid when she converted a penalty stroke for her second goal of the season. Senior defender Ashlee Billert (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) also scored on a penalty stroke in the third quarter for her first goal of the season.

RSC's senior goalie Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made 10 saves in the match and drops to 1-5 on the year as she worked in three of four quarters. Rookie Anna Church (Ludlow, VT/Green Mountain Union) worked a quarter. Greier continues to add to her active career record as well she now has 308 career saves in goal for the Gators.

RSC returns to action on September 25 facing Utica College in a 5 p.m. road Empire 8 match on Saturday.
