Field hockey drops Empire 8 opener to Nazareth

Pittsford, NY — Russell Sage College field hockey team travelled to Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon for the team's 2021 Empire 8 opener. The host Golden Flyers of Nazareth picked up a 3-1 win to move to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the league, while the Gators drop to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference on the year.

Nazareth led 3-0 at the half before RSC's rookie Destiny Muniz (Hagaman, NY/Amsterdam) scored her first collegiate goal on a pass from junior Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) at the 39:50 mark.

RSC's senior goalie Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made 16 saves in the match and drops to 1-3 on the year. She continues to add to her active career record as well as she now has 281 career saves in goal for the Gators.

RSC is back in action on September 15 hosting Hartwick College in a 6 p.m. Empire 8 match to be held at UAlbany's Field Hockey Field.
