Greier saluted as Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week

Hilton, NY—Sage's field hockey team member, sophomore goalkeeper Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) was honored as the Empire 8 Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on October 14. The award comes after she helped lead Sage to a 2-1 week and helped the team improve to 7-7 overall.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Abigayle Greier, Sage, So., GK, Elma, NY/Iroquois Central

Greier helped Sage to a 2-1 week, recording a 1.28 goals against average and .862 save percentage. She made 12 saves in a 3-2 overtime win over Oswego to begin the week. On Saturday, she stopped seven shots at Washington & Jefferson, before making six saves in a 5-0 shutout win over Bryn Athyn Sunday. Overall, she has six wins for the Gators in 2019.

On the 2019 campaign, Sage has now had four shutouts of the year for rookie head coach Tamara Mills. Additionally, only a second-year varsity team, the Gators have already exceeded last season's victory total and continue to add to their program's record book.

Sage will be back in action on October 18 hosting St. John Fisher College in a 7 p.m. Empire 8 match held at UAlbany's Alumni Field next Friday.
