W & J Tops Gators, 2-0 in E8 Field hockey play

 

W & J COLLECTS 2-0 WIN OVER SAGE IN FIELD HOCKEY ACTION

Washington, PA—Sage's field hockey team travelled to Pennsylvania on Saturday for a match-up with the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson College in an Empire 8 match. The host Presidents collected a 2-0 win over the Gators to improve to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8. The loss puts Sage at 6-7 overall and 0-3 in the league.

W & J scored the first goal of the afternoon at the 2:25 mark as Reghan Dunn scored on a penalty corner play of a pass from Rachel Fromm.  Fromm scored the second goal of the day after she collected the ball from the left post and finished the play to help the Presidents to a 2-0 lead that held up as the final score.

Sophomore goalkeeper Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made seven saves in the match for the Gators. W & J's Rena Isreal faced a pair of shots from the Gators in the contest.

Sage will be on the road on Sunday at Bryan Athyn College at Noon.
