Rochester, NY—The Sage Colleges' field hockey team travelled to Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon for the team's Empire 8 opener. Nazareth squeaked out a 1-0 win over the Gators to improve to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the league, while Sage drops to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the Empire 8.

The game was scoreless until Nazareth's Jennifer Hilts scored on a pass from Caroline Desautels at the 49:35 mark of the match for her sixth goal of the season.

            Gator sophomore goalie Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) held the Golden Flyers in check as she made 16 saves on 17 shots on goal but allowed just one goal in the action.  Her 16 saves on Saturday ranks No. 2 all-time at Sage in single-game saves behind her 18 save effort a year ago against Stevens.
