Johnston honored by Empire 8 After outstanding week

SAGE'S MICALLI JOHNSTON NAMED EMPIRE 8 CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Rochester, NY—The Sage Colleges' field hockey team was honored on Monday with the release of the weekly Empire 8 awards. Sage's junior forward Micalli Johnston (Plattsburgh, NY/Saranac) was honored as the league's co-offensive player of the week.

On the week, Johnston exploded for 12 points on five goals with two assists in a 1-1 week for the Gators. She began the week by tallying six points on two goals and two assists in Sage's 4-1 road win over Elms College delivering the first career win to rookie head coach Tamara Mills. On Saturday, Johnston scored all three of Sage's goals in a 4-3 loss to Keuka College. She leads the team and is third among all Empire 8 players with 14 points on the fall on six goals with two assists this season.

Sage will be back in action on September 18 hosting Centenary College at 7 p.m. at UAlbany's Alumni Field.
