Sage wraps up league play with loss at Stevens

Hoboken, N.J. – The Sage Colleges field hockey team wrapped up Empire 8 Conference play with a 3-0 loss at Stevens Saturday afternoon. The Ducks improved to 12-6 overall and finished 6-2 in the league. The Gators, in the program's first season, are 4-12 and were 0-8 in league play.

The Ducks had 39 shots in the game, including 22 in the second half. The hosts took 17 of the game's 18 corners. Sage freshman goalkeeper Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made a career high 18 saves, with 12 coming in the second half. Her previous high was 12 on October 7 vs. Washington & Jefferson. It was Greier's fifth game with 10 or more saves. Emily Franco played over 40 minutes and Emily Sneddon saw action in over 29 in the Stevens net.

Stevens scored two quick goals in the first half. Brynn Froehlich tallied her sixth of the year at 25:08 as she got an assist from Ireland Tawney and tapped it into the net for the 1-0 lead. Just 3:07 later, Tawney scored her 11th of the fall. She tipped in a pass from Skylar Migliaccio for the two goal advantage, and it was 2-0 at the half.

Hannah Silverstri scored the third Stevens tally and final goal of the game at 69:47. She swept in the assist from Regan Littell.

Sage will wrap up the 2018 season with a non-league game on Wednesday, October 31 at Morrisville at 4 p.m.
