Troy, NY – Sophomore Emilee Rosenberg scored three goals to lead the Nazareth College field hockey team to a 4-1 Empire 8 victory over host The Sage Colleges at RPI's Harkness Field Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flyers are now 8-8 on the season and 3-3 in the league, while the Gators went to 2-11 and 0-7 in the Empire 8.

Freshman Mikaylee Whalen had a goal and two assists for the Golden Flyers, who had a 16-11 shot advantage. Sage had 12 of 21 corners. Union goalkeeper sophomore Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made eight saves while Nazareth keeper Kimber Nourse made six stops.

Rosenberg opened the scoring at 31:54 when she scored a goal into the right side from a pass from Alexandra Livesey. Just 7:04 later, Rosenberg scored again, her fourth of the year, from Whalen. Then at 42:04, Whalen notched her seventh of the year when she came in alone on right side.

At 54:46, Rosenberg completed her hat trick with a Whalen pass from in close for a 4-0 lead.

As time expired, Sage had a corner and per the rules the play continued. Freshman Cortney Conley (Stanfordville, NY/Stissing Mountain) shot one in but there was discussion before the goal was credited. It was her fourth of the season.

Donations were accepted for the Making Strides breast cancer walk being held Sunday at Washington Park in Albany. The Sage field hockey team will be participating.

Sage is back in action on Thursday, October 25 to host New England College. That game will be played at the University at Albany's Alumni Field. Nazareth continues a busy weekend with a game tomorrow at Geneseo at 3 p.m.
