Gators win 10-0! Sage field hockey downs Dean for first victory!

Franklin, MA—The Sage Colleges' field hockey team recorded a 10-0 win on Friday afternoon as they posted a 10-0 road win over the Bulldogs of Dean College. Sage led 7-0 at the half and cruised to the program's first shutout win and the first win for Sage's head coach Gillian McDonald. The Gators are now 1-1, while Dean drops to 0-2.

The Gators had eight different players score in the action, while junior midfielder Hayley Mato (Copake, NY/Taconic Hills) and rookie forward Sara O'Connor (Rexford, NY/Niskayuna) each scored a pair in the action. O'Connor finished with three points as she added an assist to go with her two goals.

Also scoring for Sage in the contest were Charity Rushinski (Shushan, NY/Salem Central) with a goal and an assist, while rookie Kathryn Gallagher (Hudson Falls, NY/Hudson Falls), rookie Samantha Marrish (Hudson, NY/Germantown), freshman Brooke Perry (Hampton, NY/Granville), sophomore Micalli Johnston (Plattsburgh, NY/Saranac), and freshman Cortney Conley (Stanfordville, NY/Stissing Mountain) all tallied one goal in the contest.

Sage's junior goalie Alicia Swavely (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and sophomore Aunna Parker (Springfield, VT/Springfield) shared in the shutout win. Swavely worked 54 plus minutes and faced no shots, while Parker finished the match and also was untested.

Sage is back in action on September 12 hosting Elms College at RPI's Harkness Field in an 8 p.m. start.
