RSC Baseball lands on NCAA statistical leader board for 2023

Indianapolis, IN – With the 2023 baseball season wrapped, the NCAA has released the final statistics for the year and Russell Sage College's team and a few players finished the year nationally ranked in NCAA Division III.

Only a second-year program, the Gators have earned back-to-back appearances in the Empire 8 Tournament under head coach Nick Pontari and capped the 2023 season as the Empire 8 Tournament runner-up with record of 18-25.

As a team, the Gators ranked 35th nationally in stolen bases (102), while ranking 42nd with a 2.37 stolen bases per game average.

Senior James Lubanski (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber) ranked 36th nationally having connected for a school-record 18 doubles in 2023. He started 42 of 43 games and added a .335 batting average. He also led the team with his school-record 78 total bases and a .503 slugging percentage with a .444 on-base percentage.

Sophomore infielder Dom Caminitti (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) was ranked No. 9 in Division III having been hit by a pitch with a 0.53 per game average, while standing 19th having been hit 20 times along the way in 2023.

Sophomore catcher Cole Paro (Wolfeboro, NH/Kingswood Regional) finished the year with nine sacrifice bunts and ranked 30th in the nation in the category.
