Gators post 13-7 win over New Paltz on Tuesday

New Paltz, NY – Russell Sage College's baseball team collected a 13-7 win on the road Tuesday at SUNY-New Paltz. The Gators extend their win streak to three games as they are now 13-17 overall.

SUNY-New Paltz struck first with a run in the bottom of the second inning, but that lead did not last long as the Gators tacked up seven runs in the top of the third and never looked back.

Sophomore Christian Brown (Troy, NY/Troy) belted a two-run home run in the inning for his team-leading fourth shot of the season. A year ago, Brown led the Gators in their inaugural season with five home runs.

Sophomore Dom Caminitti (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) was 2-for-5 with a run scored two RBI's and two stolen bases. Senior James Lubanski (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber) drove in two runs, while sophomore Jared Russell (Colonie, NY/Colonie) had a 3-for-5 effort at the plate with two runs scored. Sophomore Brendan Espinal (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) added another hit with an RBI and a stolen base to continue his climb of the Gator record book. He now has an active record for the most hits and stolen bases in a single-season with 42 hits and 17 stolen bases.

Sophomore rightie Isaac Brown (Troy, NY/Troy) worked three innings in picking up the win as he is now 1-1. He allowed just two hits with four strikeouts, five walks and two earned runs. He got assistance on the mound from Michael Karpinski (Ballston Spa, NY/Saratoga Springs), graduate performer Cameron Anderson (Clifton Park, NY/Burnt Hills), sophomore Jaylen Cuevas (Bronx, NY/Fordham Prep), sophomore Colby Phelps (Troy, NY/Tamarac), and rookie Sam Shaw (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse).

RSC travels to SUNY-Poly on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference game with the Wildcats. RSC will also host Keuka College in an Empire 8 series this weekend as games will now take place, Friday and Saturday, April 21-22. A year ago the Gators were 14-27-1 in their inaugural campaign and will look to surpass that victory total this week with nine regular-season games left on the schedule.
