RSC Wraps Florida Trip with a Win

LAKELAND, Fla. –  Russell Sage College wrapped up its Florida trip by defeating SUNY Poly 12-2 (8 innings) this morning.

Sophomore infielder Frank Colletta (Holtsville, NY/St. John the Baptist) went 3-for-5 with a run scored and 2 RBI to pace RSC, now winners of four-in-a-row.

Trailing early, the Gators batted around in a four-run fourth. Sophomore outfielder Jacob Coonan (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) and sophomore infielder Dom Caminitti (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) drove in teammates with singles during the rally.

Up 7-2, RSC tacked on with five runs during the seventh and eighth innings to end it early.

Senior shortstop James Lynch went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for SUNY Poly (0-3).

Up next for the Gators (4-7) is a doubleheader on Sunday, March 19 against Cazenovia. 


Notes: A pair from RSC earned Empire 8 Conference weekly honors on Feb. 27…Senior outfielder James Lubanski (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber) was selected the Player of the Week, while sophomore Liam Doyle (West Sayville, NY/Connetquot) was named the Pitcher of the Week…2023 marks the second season for the program…The Gators reached the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament in their inaugural spring…22 players returned to the squad…Doyle, sophomore infielder Andrew Knapp (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet), and sophomore outfielder Leandro Guzman (New Britain, CT/New Britain) highlighted the group of returning players...Colletta slashed .565/.783/.577 this week...He scored six runs, drove in four, and recorded five doubles during the stretch of six games.
