LEESBURG, Fla. –  Russell Sage College swept this morning's seven-inning doubleheader against the Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Gators, now winners of three-straight, took the first game 9-3 and the second game 8-3.

Senior designated hitter James Lubanski (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber), who was selected the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 27, and sophomore infielder Frank Colletta (Holtsville, NY/St. John the Baptist) powered RSC to the pair of victories. Lubanski went 5-for-7 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Colletta went 5-for-8 with three runs scored and an RBI on the day.

In the first game, RSC scored four runs in the first to get out to a 5-0 lead through three innings of play. Sophomore outfielder Leandro Guzman (New Britain, CT/New Britain) blasted a three-run homer during the rally. He went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI in the opener.

Up 5-3, the Gators regained some separation with a four-run fifth. Sophomore Andrew Knapp (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) plated a pair with a pinch-hit double, while Colletta and senior infielder Sean Berry (Tivoli, NY/Red Hook) laced RBI singles.

Lubanski and Colletta each had two hits and scored a run in the opener.

Trailing Wentworth (1-7) 2-1 through four innings of the second game, RSC turned the tide with six unanswered runs.

The Gators took the lead with four runs in the fifth.  Lubanski, Colletta, freshman pitcher/infielder Owen Murphy (Fairport, NY/Fairport), and sophomore outfielder Brendan Espinal (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) each delivered RBI hits.

Murphy added a two-run homer in the seventh to cap the RSC scoring.

Lubanski went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, while Colletta went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the nightcap.

The Gators (3-7) finish up their time in the "Sunshine State" tomorrow morning vs. SUNY Poly.  First pitch is set for 10:00 AM.
