Gators Start Strong at SUNY Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Russell Sage College got out to a 3-1 lead before SUNY Brockport took over this afternoon's non-conference game, defeating the Gators 18-3 (7 innings)

Freshman infielder Joseph Salerno III (White Plains, NY/White Plains) (above), catcher Dillon Maxon (Troy, NY/Tamarac), a grad student, and freshman infielder Andrew Knapp (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) provided the early RSC advantage with RBI singles.

SUNY Brockport (22-4), now 7-0 at home, turned the tide with a five-run second inning. Designated hitter Jake Sisto, a grad student, had the big hit of the rally, blasting a two-run homer. He finished the day 2-for-2 with three RBI.

The Golden Eagles increased their advantage with five runs in the fourth. They added another run in the fifth and six more in the sixth.

Outfielder Tom Kretzler, also a grad student, was 2-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored and three RBI, while sophomore outfielder Zach Eldred went 2-for-2 with four RBI.

RSC (10-20) returns to Empire 8 Conference play on Friday afternoon, hosting St. John Fisher. The doubleheader, to be held at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, is set to begin at 12:00 pm.
