KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Russell Sage College split this afternoon's Empire 8 Conference doubleheader at Keuka.

In the opener, the Gators (6-17/2-4 E8) erased multiple deficits before being walked-off upon 8-7 (8 innings).

Trailing 3-0 after two, RSC battled back to take a 4-3 lead going to the bottom of the sixth. However, the Wolves quickly responded with three runs to regain the lead. Senior infielder Jimmy Griffin laced a two-run single to highlight the Keuka rally.

Down to their final strike, freshman infielder Frank Colletta (Holtsville, NY/St. John The Baptist) singled home a pair to extend the game.

In the eighth, senior outfielder Nick Brown singled up the middle with the bases loaded to deliver Keuka the walk-off triumph.

Freshman infielder Andrew Knapp (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) went 1-for-4 with an RBI, while freshman right-hander Jaylen Cuevas (Bronx, NY/Fordham Prep) tossed 3.1 no-hit innings in relief.

For Keuka, Griffin drove in three runs, while sophomore outfielder Matt Vaccaro and Brown each had two hits and an RBI.

RSC earned the split with a 9-4 victory in the nightcap. 

The Gators opened up a 5-1 lead with four runs in the fourth inning. Freshman outfielder Leandro Guzman (New Britain, CT/New Britain) doubled home a pair to highlight the rally.

RSC increased its advantage with four more runs in the sixth. Guzman and Colletta each singled home a teammate in the frame.

Keuka (8-9-1/2-3-1 E8) scored three runs in the sixth for the final margin.

Guzman was 3-for-7 with three runs scored and three RBI in the split. Colletta finished 2-for-8 with three RBI, while freshman infielder Zachary Figueras (Apopka, FL/Windermere) (above) scored three runs.

The teams are scheduled to play again tomorrow afternoon. First pitch of the doubleheader, to be played at Joe Bruno Stadium, is slated for noon.
