AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Russell Sage College took on the Lions of Mt. St. Joseph on Wednesday in a game played at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Lions tallied a 14-4 win to move to 4-6 on the year, while RSC drops to 0-6 on the year.

The Gators (0-6) got a pair of doubles from freshman outfielder Leandro Guzman (New Britain, CT/New Britain) and rookie Dylan Scherillo (Drums, PA/New Dorp). Freshman Zachary Figueras (Apopka, FL/Windermere) was 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI and a stolen base for the Gators.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Jack Clifford (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) made the start and worked 1.2 innings with 0 earned runs off three hits with three walks and three strikeouts as he moves to 0-1 on the year.  Right-hander Cameron Anderson (Clifton Park, NY/Burnt Hills), a grad student, worked 3.0 innings in relief allowing no earned runs off seven hits with a pair of walks and strikeouts. Freshman right-hander Colby Phelps (Troy, NY/Tamarac) closed the game with 4.1 innings of work. He gave up a pair of hits with four strikeouts and three walks, allowing three runs, two of which were earned.

Mount St. Joseph combined for 12 hits as rookie Andrew Harrison was 3 for 5 with 4 RBI's and four runs scored. Junior Ryan Murray was 3 for 5 with two RBI's, three runs scored with a stolen base. The Lions used four pitchers as the starter Mason Jewell worked 3.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and three hits. JD Reynolds yielded a hit in 2.0 innings of work with two strikeouts to go with a walk and a pair of unearned runs as he collected the victory to stand at 1-0.

Looking ahead, the Gators scheduled to play Penn State Abington tomorrow at 11:00 A.M.
