Russell Sage College Athletic History
Russell Sage College's Athletic Department has a unique history spanning six decades. From their modest beginning with the Sage Junior College of Albany Men's Basketball team in the 1950s, Sage has gone through many transitions, the most recent in 2008 in when student-athletes from both the Troy and Albany campuses joined together to create the Sage Athletics you see today.
RSC's women's programs have competed at the Division III level since the 1980s, while the JCA basketball and women's volleyball teams competed until 2002, when the school transitioned from a two-year junior college to a four-year college and then the return of athletics to the Albany campus in 2008.
