RSC Track performers honored by Empire 8

Hilton, NY –  Russell Sage College's women's and men's outdoor track and field teams both had some student-athletes honored with the announcement  of the 2023 Empire 8 All-Conference Outdoor Track and Field Teams.

Earning a spot on the 2023 Empire 8 Women's Track and Field Third Team in the 1,500 meter run was junior Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) after she posted a third place finish at the league's championship with her time of 4:59.35 in the race.  Feeney also holds the school records for the program in the 800 meter run (2:25.52) and bettered her time from the 8 championship with a time of 4:58.88 as she competed at the 2023 AARTFC in mid-May.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2023 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen. Earning that acclaim from RSC was junior Jasmine Zollman (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central).

On the men's team, senior John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/ Broadalbin-Perth) earned second team acclaim in both the shot put and the hammer throw after finishing as the league runner-up in both events. He had a throw of 15.26 meters in the shot put to set the school record, while recording a toss of 49.50 meters in the hammer championship. Coddington, also holds RSC program records in the discus (39.95 meters) and the hammer (52.49 meters).

Sophomore Kaiden Simpson (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) earned a spot on the Third Team in the javelin. He broke the school record and finished with an impressive third place showing in the javelin with a performance 47.14 meters.

Earning that acclaim from RSC was sophomore Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills).
