Sandy Augstein-Collins

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College women's volleyball head coach Sandy Augstein-Collins '87 announced her retirement from coaching, effective March 8.

Augstein-Collins, who coached for 26 years overall, spent 13 seasons at the helm of the Gators, including the past five. The RSC Hall of Famer, Class of 2006, guided the program to three regular season conference championships, and appearances in the ECAC and NCAA Championship Tournaments. Augstein-Collins, the 2012 Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year, achieved her 375th coaching victory on September 14, 2022 vs. SUNY Cobleskill.

She also was the head coach of the men's volleyball program for the historic 2013 season. The Gators won the ECAC Division III North Men's Volleyball Championship and finished second in the Skyline Conference with a school-record 30-7 campaign. She was voted the 2013 Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball Coach of the Year for her efforts.

Augstein-Collins also served as the RSC Director of Athletics from 2017-2022.  Under her direction, the department increased its academic support and leadership development opportunities and added multiple athletic programs, including baseball and esports, to its offerings.

"Sandy has had a lasting effect on the athletic program at Russell Sage College," said Trish Cellemme, Vice President for Student Life.  "From her early days as a varsity athlete to her impact as a coach for the women's and men's volleyball teams, Sandy has left her mark.  Sandy's induction into the Russell Sage College Athletics Hall of Fame demonstrates her skill, dedication, and work ethic.  She brought all of this and more to her work as a coach and athletic director and I am grateful for her service."
