RSC Esports Team to Join ECAC Esports League

Albany, NY—Russell Sage College's eSports program is excited to be joining the ECAC Esports league the 2022-23 esports season and beyond. The Gators will join the ranks of ECAC Esports as it now approaches 150 colleges and universities coast to coast, with more than 800 participating teams and 4,000 competitors.

RSC's Head Coach Luke Martin noted, "Sage esports is very excited for the opportunity to take part in ECAC's esports conference this year." Martin added, "The Gators are eager to compete with more local colleges and universities as well participate in numerous regional based competitions. ECAC's season format allows our program the ability to compete in a multitude of games, encompassing many genres."

"We are thrilled to have Russell Sage come on board as a member of ECAC Esports," remarked ECAC Commissioner Dan Coonan. He added, "As we continue to grow at an exponential rate, we are so pleased to be able to provide a national organizational platform for intercollegiate esports, enabling thousands of student competitors a chance to compete for their schools."

ECAC Assistant Commissioner of Esports Lydia Fister noted, "We are excited to have Russell Sage join the competition. We are happy to be a home for the student-athletes and to be able to provide an opportunity for the program to win a national championship!"

Now in their second season as a varsity program at RSC, the Gators are excited about the upcoming 2022-2023 campaign. Martin continued, "We look forward to competing in Overwatch, Valorant, Smash Brothers and many more titles against a wide variety of opponents from both local and regional competition that will challenge our players and bring a healthy foundation to our emerging team. In addition to all of the different competitive benefits ECAC provides, Sage student-athletes will benefit from opportunities to participate in internships and a community that encourages and fosters young student-athletes to get involved in the world of esports on a level greater than that of an affiliated participant."
