Mickaela Buzzy Named 2021-2022 Recipient of the Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award

Albany, NY—Russell Sage College's department of athletics announced their award winners for the 2021-2022 academic year at the annual awards banquet.  In addition to several honors bestowed for athletic and academic excellence, Sage also selected the Gator of the Year Award for the department's 21 varsity sports for the 2021-2022 year.

RSC's women's soccer goalie Mickaela Buzzy (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) was honored as the 2021-2022 Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award recipient. She was also named to the Sage Athletic Honor Society for the second straight year.

Head Women's Soccer Coach Garrett Cobb remarked "Mickaela Buzzy is the definition of perseverance." Cobb added, "With every unfortunate setback faced, she has never given up. Battling severe injury, she found her way back to a starting spot only to be hit by injury again. This has not deterred her. She is mentally strong and putting the work in to be back on the field in the fall to help lead our team once again."

As a member of the 2021 Sage women's soccer team, she was named to the Empire 8 Conference Sportswomen of the Year Team. She played in nine matches with 49 saves in 654:19 minutes of service. She added a .831 save percentage and a 1.38 goals-against average. She also made 12 saves vs. #24 Hamilton (9/29). Her 2021 season was cut short with an injury suffered in a contest.
